Excellent food. I had the tacos de arrachera and the restaurant's spiciest home made salsa. It was delicious . The atmosphere on the rooftop restaurant was great, and the staff was attentive and kind, offering suggestions and Spanish lessons! $5 lime margaritas are also a great deal.

My girlfriend and I love it here. The location is great and the upstairs outdoor area is unmatched in Pittsburgh. Fun to people watch on Walnut Street. Food is pretty standard, but we go for their margaritas and the outdoor seating. Our server was super sweet and made us great drinks. Definitely a great happy hour spot!

Second time I've been here. First time was just for drinks, but came tonight for dinner and drinks. The margaritas seem to taste a little weak with more sours in them. I had a Chelada also and that was very tasty. When we ordered our food, it came out in less than five minutes so we were a little skeptical of how fresh the food is. The food was decent. The drink prices seem to be a little high. If I'm paying $15 or more for a margarita, I want to be able to taste tequila. As the evening went on, the place got more crowded. For a Friday night, I was shocked they were not on a wait. They had TVs with the sports on and noise levels were tolerable to talk at your table.

This is leaps and bounds beyond better than the previous Mexican restaurant in this space. The food is excellent and well priced and the drinks are delicious! Do yourself a favor and look up what the specials are on different nights of the week because they are some amazing deals! The frozen margarita is incredible and pro-tip: ask for tajin on the rim. The wait staff all seem pretty new to service but they're very eager and have consistently improved with every visit that we've gone.

So much better than expected. After having high quality Mexican food for years, it's been really disappointing coming to Pittsburgh and having people tell us that a place like Tocaya is "really good." Madero Cantina actually serves Mexican food! Yes, you can get white mid-west style food, too (flour tortillas with shredded Cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato). Their menu very politely called this Tex-Mex style. But you can get tacos with proper corn tortillas and toppings instead (Mexican style, per the menu). We got tacos and a burrito when we went for lunch. The food is still calibrated for white Midwesterners (could be spicier for sure). But, I know they've got to adapt to their audience. We will definitely go again. And, the server we had for lunch was stellar. Polite, attentive but not intrusive.

Service: impeccable. Nice young man seated us right away and then went to get us water. Love that they automatically gave my son a kids cup with straw and lid. After a few minutes another gentleman came and took our order. I liked how everyone worked together and were very observant. I kept a menu just to look over dessert and take pictures. After a little while another gentleman noticed I was still looking at the menu and came to check on us. Ambiance was nice. I love that you can see the people working in the kitchen. Adds to the authenticity and is nice to see how clean it is. There was a giant Tv screen playing Spanish music. We asked a waiter politely to move tables because we were sitting so close to the speaker and my son was getting angry, and he simpatheticlly said he'll just turn the music down. Midway threw eating they opened the balcony windows and gave us a nice breeze. Food: amazing My son's chicken nachos came out first and wow, the portion was incredible for a kids item. Chips had such a good texture and flavor, and chicken was hot and juicy. The kid complained the cheese wasn't the gooey dip cheese, but as a mom, I much preferred this, way cleaner. I had the tacos. The carnitas was delicious. So juicy and tender. The sides came in the cutest mini chip cup. The beans were amazing, but the best part of the meal was definitely the hot salsa. We got the habarracha salsa. SO SPICY. So good! Rich in flavor. Clearly homemade. A little goes a long way! If you like spicy, definitely need to get this salsa. Worth the $2 charge.
